Taking from the form and function of the tree, this design charette allowed for the expression of each of the parts in ways that range from the literal in color and form, to the abstract. From the roots, up through the trunk and outward through the branches to the leaves, the development of increasingly slender pieces creates the whole that is the form we recognize as an oak, maple, or aspen. Taking concrete forms and functions and creating an abstracted work that displays the gentle maturity of the tree is directly connected in how we see and develop architecture.
